Wind Power Specialist Bigge’s New Heavy Boom Manitowoc 16000 Now Ready to Go

(Vocus) May 14, 2010 -- The first of two Manitowoc 16000 (http://www.bigge.com/Manitowoc-16000.html) cranes, the first with the new heavy boom available for rent in the U.S., is now outfitted and ready to be deployed.

Manitowoc first released the 16000 in 2005, and it has frequently been deployed by wind contractors. Now, Manitowoc has designed a new heavy boom configuration and exclusive new wind jib for the 16000, increasing the lift capacity to more effectively handle the larger wind power turbines (http://www.bigge.com/crane-rental/wind-turbine-erection.html).

Bigge, one of the nation’s largest and fastest growing crane rental (http://www.bigge.com/crane-rental/) companies, recently purchased two 16000’s, each with 292 ft heavy boom and new 23’ wind jib. With the heavy-boom attachment, the 16000 is now unparalleled when erecting 2.5 MW turbines on 80m & 85m towers.

Both Manitowoc 16000 crawler cranes are expected to be deployed from their regional headquarters in Houston, TX. The second of the two cranes will be delivered later this summer.
